Fulfill the Legacy of Dr. King

Danny Green, JJ Hickson, Darnell Jackson, and Jawad Williams Help

City Year Cleveland Spruce Up the Halls of Collinwood High School

Monday, January 18th at 3:30 P.M.

WHO/WHAT: On Monday, January 18th, to honor Martin Luther King Day, Cavs players Danny Green,  JJ Hickson, Darnell Jackson and Jawad Williams will team up with the City Year Cleveland Youth Corps for an afternoon of community service to fulfill the legacy of Dr. King. The players will participate in a “day ON not a day off,” by taking time to help spruce up Collinwood High School  working side-by-side with 130 of City Year’s younger leaders to clean the hallways and paint the school walls.

City Year Cleveland’s Youth Corps unites 1,500 young leaders age 17-24 for a year of full-time community service, leadership development and civic engagement.  One hundred thirty of these leaders will be donating their time on Martin Luther King Day to visit six sites around the Cleveland Metropolitan Area for an exciting afternoon of community service.

3:30 – 4:30 P.M.

This event is in conjunction with the Cleveland Cavaliers sixth annual Black Heritage Celebration, presented by State Farm Insurance, which tips off on January 19th at 7:00 P.M. at Quicken Loans Arena.
