J.J. Hickson, Making The Most As A Starter For The Cavaliers

Jazz Cavaliers Basketball

CLEVELAND- What a difference it can make starting rather then coming off the bench for Cavaliers forward J.J. Hickson. It was first out into place because Cavaliers head coach Mike Brown noticed in practice that Hickson seem to do better starting rather than coming off the bench and that he was getting more energy out of Anderson Varejao coming off the bench rather than starting. So When the Cavaliers went to New York to take on the Knicks, it was the perfect opportunity for coach Brown to try out this theory. And it paid off.

In the first six games of the season Hickson averaged just .84 points and 1.7 rebounds a game and Cavaliers were 3-3 . Sense inserting Hickson he has averaged 13.25 points and 3.5 rebounds a games and the Cavaliers were 4-0. It seems to be working in the benefit of the Cavaliers switching Hickson and Varejao as the Cavaliers are getting a higher scoring output. It goes to show a lot of skeptics that were starting to worry at the beginning of the season, that coach Brown has been right so far in saying, it would take more time than preseason to get everyone in tune with one another and to tweak the line-up. It nice to see the draft picks are paying off.
