TEXAS- Before leaving for their road trip at least six Cavalier player were suffering from the Influenza A or symptoms of the flu. The Cavalier team officials decided at that point to just treat the entire Cavaliers staff to prevent any lingering affects to hamper the start of the regular season. Bad part is they must spend the rest of preseason getting over the flu.
The first game of the road schedule was Friday in San Antonio taking on the Spurs. Starters for the game was LeBron James, Darnell Jackson, Shaquille O’Neal, Mo Williams and Anthony Parker. James not showing to many affects from the flu had 22 points, 6 rebounds and 1 assist in 20 mintues, Mo Williams had 15 points, 6 assist and 2 rebounts, Shaquille O’Neal had 8 point, 13 rebounds and 2 blocks, other notables Jamario Moon 12 points, Russell Robinson 11 points and Rob Kurz 10 points. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and the rest of the Spurs were just to much for the Cavailers as they lost 105-98.
The Second games was in Dallas as the Cavaliers took on the Mavericks. To help give some of the players needed extra rest that are recovering from the flu the starters were Jamario Moon, Darnell Jackson, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Russell Robinson and Anthony Parker. Jamario Moon has 18 points, 10 rebounds and three assist in 30 minutes, Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 12 points, 2 rebounds and 1 block in 23 minutes, Darnell Jackson had 10 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assist in 34 minutes, other notables, Jawad Williams 13 points and Coby Karl with 8 points. Dallas took advantage of a sicken roster beating the Cavaliers 93-82.
The three other hit with flu like symptoms are Andre Barrett, Anderson Varejao and J.J. Hickson. The Cavaliers main goal at this point is to evaluate the players trying to make the roster and to get the flu stricken players healthy. There next game is Tuesday in Pittsburgh against the Dallas Mavericks. If the Cavaliers are this competitive being this injured and sickened, it’s going to be scary when they are at full strength.

Yeah that flu is a bad deal. Makes me wonder why they didn’t get an inoculation against it – surely that would be permitted.
